Stevenson Jones Opticians is now located in Friars Street. The original business, McKellen Ashton and Tavernor, was founded in the 1930’s in Merrial Street and moved via The Ironmarket to its current location.
John Stevenson – optometrist and managing director – took ownership of the practice in 2008 and has over 25 years of experience working in optometry.
Over these 25 years, John has gathered an impressive list of achievements. As well as specialising in a number of different optical areas he is also a past Chairman of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists.
During his career, John has lectured at national meetings and has worked with the National Junior Rifle Squad. He is keen to stay one step ahead when it comes to contact lens designs and examination techniques. He regularly holds contact lens trials at his practice due to his relationship with highly trusted manufacturing panels. He is also on the list for the North Staffordshire Acute Eyecare Scheme.
Working alongside John to deliver excellence in every department are Melonie and Marie. John says, “I wouldn’t be able to run the practice without the reception and dispensing team. They work front of house and I trust them implicitly to make sure that everyone that visits us has a great experience.”
